Boys Basketball: Central Illinois Turkey Tournament

The Bulldogs beat Atwood-Hammond 44-39 Saturday evening for Third Place in the Turkey Tourney.

Colin Auth and Mac Gallagher, both seniors, made the All-Tournament Team.

Football: Season in Review

The 2009 South Piatt Wildcats officially wrapped up their season at the banquet on Tuesday, November 10. At the banquet the coaches reviewed both JV and Varsity seasons. The JV went 5-4 and the Varsity went 5-5 with a playoff berth, first time in six seasons.

Also recognized Tuesday was LOVC All-Conference award winners. They are the following:

In addition, the four captains were honored and all received awards for their leadership, performance and hard workthroughout the season. They were Colin Auth, Steven Bryan, Randy Crist and Matt Lee.

Matt Lee received the 2009 Team's MVP and Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Lee had 59 solo tackles and 29 assits tackles, for a total of 88 tackles for the season. He also 12 tackles for a loss. Lee set a South Piatt season record for fumbles recovered, he had 5 and a career record for fumbles recovered, he had 7.

Colin Auth received Co-Special Forces Player of the Year and Co-Defensive Player of the Year. Auth had 74 solo tackles which was a South Piatt season record. He also had 24 assits tackles and 7 interceptions. On special teams, Auth averaged 25.4 yards per punt. He had a total of 584 yards in 23 attempts.

Steven Bryan was awarded Co-Offensive Player of the Year and the Bramlete Award. This season, Bryan rushed for 1,082 yards and averaged 5.2 yards per carry. He also scored six touchdowns. The Bramlete Award is in honor of the late Pastor Steve Bramlete. Bramlete was a huge South Piatt fan. The award was given to Bryan for his performance on and off the field.

Football 10/13: Brown County 34 SP 0

The Wildcats played their first playoff game in six years against the Brown County Hornets. The Hornets beat the Wildcats 34-0. Steven Bryan rushed for 109 yards to surpass the 1,000 yard mark for the season. Colin Auth had 65 yards receiving and also contributed nine tackles. Randy Crist passed for 88 yards. Matt Lee had 11 tackles. Josh Peeler and Charlie Thompson each had seven tackles.

The Wildcats ended their season 5-5.
